Capnography Basics (CAPCE)

This course presents an overview of capnography for assessing patient ventilation and status in the prehospital setting. The lessons explain the capnography waveform and what the phases, patterns, and values indicate for patient care. Pulmonary physiology is also introduced in a discussion on ventilation, perfusion, and cellular respiration as they relate to interpreting a capnography reading and patient condition. This course also covers the mnemonic DOPE and its use when giving care to ventilator-dependent patients.
