The Quiz Settings enable you to select display options, add materials, show/hide elements, autostart, display numbering, randomize questions and answers, and more.
Navigate to the LearnDash Quizzes page and hover under the quiz title to show the options. Click the Edit button.
NOTE
Quiz display & content settings are set on a quiz-by-quiz basis. They cannot be set globally.
The Access Settings associate the quiz with a course, allow you to determine when it’s available after course enrollment, if there is quiz prerequisite, and allow only registered users to take the Quiz. The settings below are typical for a course that provides a test and no other content:
There is an associated course, but no lesson. The quiz is released immediately upon course enrollment. There is no prerequisite. Only registered users can take the quiz. If there were a prerequisite, the Course Builder would have at least one other quiz in it, and the quizzes would be listed so that the prerequisite quiz comes before the final quiz.
The Progression and Restriction settings are where you indicate the required percentage for a passing score.
Leave the Quiz Certificate blank. For our purposes, we add the certificate to the Course Settings (rather than the Quiz Settings), so users can rely on their Course Progression meter that appears at the top of the course to track their progress and completion.
Enable Quiz Saving if it’s a long quiz in case users are pulled away from it and need to come back to it later.
Restrict retakes if you want to limit how many times they can retake the test. Leaving it off as in the example below allows unlimited retakes.
Check the box to require all questions to be completed. (In the next section you can opt to show only a certain number of questions from a larger question bank.
Add a time limit to require the test be completed within a certain amount of time once they start it.
There is an option to add materials such as links to pdf downloads, a References list, or other content.
Materials are displayed to your users in a separate tab, alongside the main quiz content.
Enable the Autostart setting to automatically load the quiz as soon as the user accesses the quiz page.
By default, this setting is disabled, and a “Start Quiz” button must be clicked to start the quiz.
The question display gives you two main options for how you want to set up your quiz questions:
If you choose this option, you have two ways to display results:
0
to show all questions)The question overview table displays a table at the top of your quiz.
By default, your quiz questions are displayed in the order they are set in the quiz builder. If you’d like to change that order, you have a few options:
Quiz Title: A second quiz title will be displayed on the Quiz Post. This option is recommended if displaying Quizzes via Shortcode.
There are a handful of other quiz elements that you can choose to show or hide from your users. Enable the toggle to display the following elements:
10 point(s)
Category: Math
Question 1 of 10
10. Question
The most important setting here is the Quiz Statistics, which must be selected to track the quiz progress and results. Optionally, you can select the Front-end Profile Display for users to also see their scores on their My Courses page.
